The name of Sarnia Sting centre Alex Galchenyuk was on the lips of many Habs fans when the young man joined some three dozen other draft prospects at the team’s combine at the Bell Sports Complex at Brossard.

I caught Alex on the sidelines as he was watching some of the other draft prospects go through dry-land training, after Galchenyuk had already gone through his paces.  These shots of Galchenyuk were taken before he laced up the skates for on-ice testing.

A week and a half later, he prepares for hockey life as a member of the Montreal Canadiens organization, with the Habs making him their 1st-round pick, third overall, in the opening round of the NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh Friday night.
